Now in its fifth year, FIRST Robotics Competition Team 4026, Global Dynamics, has teamed with industry mentors to build a solid program that lets students from the City of Decatur compete in FIRST Robotics competitions and prepares them to excel in the future, both in education and business. We have established FRC Team 4026 as a partner to the Decatur High School robotics program, but with separate coaching and operations, beginning with the 2016 FRC season. By operating independently from Decatur High School, we are able to manage the team without burdening DHS staff with the significant personal time commitment necessary for managing and supervising students during build meetings and competitions. As a partner in robotics and STEM education in Decatur, both the DHS FTC team and the Decatur FRC team can continue to be successful.
Mission and Objectives
The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Our mission is to sustain a world-class, award-winning FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) team in the City of Decatur that provides a hands-on environment for students to learn complex engineering problem solving, team building, project funding, public speaking and presentation skills.
The team will be funded with donations from sponsoring companies and individuals. Multiple sponsorship levels are available. Decatur Education Foundation serves as the team’s fiscal sponsor and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law (or the IRS).
The team will require a total at least a $10,000 financial commitment from sponsorships and donations for the 2016 season. This will cover the costs for FIRST registration fees, materials for building the robot, banners or other promotional materials, and for meals at competitions and at extended meetings. If available, additional funds will be used to offset travel and lodging costs for events.
